Guided Tours of The Sorrento Museum and Watts’ Cottage
On arrival groups can view our DVD Postcards from Sorrento on the large screen in the Heritage Gallery. This features a virtual tour of The Sorrento Museum and Watts’ Cottage and informative segments on George Coppin and also the Sorrento Tram. The last one includes delightful old film footage.
People will then be free to wander at will to enjoy the museum’s varied exhibits while small groups of 8 – 10 persons visit Watts’ Cottage with a guide. Our voluntary guides will also be on hand to offer information, answer questions and serve you in the shop.
Sorrento Historical Precinct
While on holiday in Sorrento or when planning a day trip for a group of friends or students consider booking a guided walk through the township with us. Topics covered include a brief history of early settlement and entrepreneur, George Coppin and his vision for Sorrento.
We start at the Rotunda on the Sorrento Foreshore, visit the restored Tram Station and historical limestone buildings on Ocean Beach Road and conclude at the Mechanics’ Institute with a tour of Watts’ Cottage. The cost is $5 per person.
To avoid disappointment please plan well in advance of your proposed visit as a minimum number of participants is required.
